Jon McEachran

Jon McEachran was born and raised in Sarnia Ontario.  Part way through high school Jon’s family moved to the United States.  Jon graduated high school in Las Vegas, Nevada and went on to earn a Bachelors degree in Political Science from the University of Utah.  While in school Jon met his beautiful wife and they were married in 2000.  They lived in several different cities and states before finally returning home to Sarnia to raise their family.  Jon has always valued the opportunity to live in other communities because he feels it gave him invaluable experience, a fresh perspective and a lot of diverse ideas.

In 2005, Jon gave up his insurance practice in the US to go into business in Sarnia.  He and his father, Ross, became partners.  They purchased the old Fiberglas Canada site in chemical valley and began a most amazing transformation.  Vidal Street Industrial Park Inc, or VIP as it’s sometimes referred to, has quickly become one of Ontario’s most successful Brownfield rejuvenation projects.  In just a few short years Jon was able to take a property which had been almost completely abandoned for 14 years and make it look clean, neat and new once again.  Not only that, but Jon and his father succeeded in offering valuable services to the surrounding industry which helps keep jobs and investments in our community.

Jon McEachran was first elected to Sarnia’s city council in 2006.  At just 28 years old, Jon was the only councillor under the age of 50 elected.  Jon has since served on the city’s Environmental Advisory Committee and remains a member of the board of directors for the St.Clair Region Conservation Authority.

Jon is active in the community.  He volunteers as a minister for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he invests a lot of time with the youth in weekly activities and programs including Scouts Canada.  He is also member of the Royal Canadian Legion.

Jon and his wife Jeanette have three beautiful children, Anabelle, Victoria and Adeline who are active in gymnastics, dance and swimming.
